The culminating event of the 2010 SCPGA Junior Tour season, the 2010 Banquet of Champions, was held January 22nd, 2011 at Friendly Hills Country Club in Whittier. The event honored the top players from the Junior Tour and the Toyota Tour Cup Series, as well as other special award winners. The evening was filled with laughs, hugs and tears as many were honored.
The 2010 Foundation Award was given to Jason Chen of Brea for his outstanding character, sportsmanship, and leadership – on and off the golf course. Chen raised $2,080 through the AJGA’s Birdies for Charity program which he donated to the SCPGA Foundation which will help fund the grant and scholarship program.
Receiving the 2010 Club Award was Classic Club in Palm Desert. Continually named one of the best courses to play by magazines such as Golfweek, Classic Club has become a favorite stop on the Toyota Tour Cup Series schedule. A former course in the Bob Hope Classic roster and always in pristine condition, the course is welcoming to juniors and their families.
This year’s Bill Bryant Award Recipients are former members of the SCPGA Junior Tour staff, David Myrdahl and Rob Keller. The Bill Bryant Award recognizes individuals who have shown distinguished service and support to the SCPGA Junior Tour. Myrdahl and Keller have transitioned to different roles in the section; Myrdahl as Business Development Manager and Keller as Director of Competitions and Rules.
Thank you to host Friendly Hills Country Club and PGA Professional Jay Prestella for their terrific service and helping to make the event a success. And special thanks to Callaway Golf for being the presenting sponsor of the banquet, each Junior received a sleeve of new Tour golf balls

The Southern California PGA Junior Tour honored its top players and other special award recipients on January 23 at the 2009 Banquet of Champions.
While the Banquet of Champions has changed since it’s inception in the mid ’80′s from inviting all of the 300+ members who competed to only those who attain certain goals, the spirit of the evening is unchanged: Honor those who are the next generation of this great game.
In 2009 Southern California was greeted by being the hosts of not only the Junior America’s Cup, but the California State Junior Amateur Championship. We also saw one of our own make it to the Finals of the US Junior Am. Not only did Jay Hwang finish Runner-Up at the US Junior Am, but he followed it up by promptly taking home the California State Junior Amateur Championship Title two weeks later.

CURTIS CUP PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Beginning in 1965, the Southern California Junior Golf Association began awarding the Curtis Cup to the player or players who displayed the best character, integrity, sportsmanship, scholastic achievement, golfing ability and golf accomplishment.
In 1987, the SCPGA Junior Golf Association began to choose both a boys and girls All-Southern California Junior Team to recognize the top golfers from among all of Southern California’s junior ranks. Since 1965, the perceived best boy and girl from the All-Southern California Junior Teams has been named the Curtis Cup Player of the Year.

ARNOLD PALMER & DINAH SHORE AWARD
The Desert Junior Golf Program created the ARNOLD PALMER AWARD and the DINAH SHORE AWARD which is given to the boy and girl with the most points earned during the season. For the boys, the award is named after the man who earned 60 PGA Tour titles and seven major championships, Arnold Palmer. Palmer evokes all that is good about the game: sportsmanship, honor, diligence, spirit, work ethic and dedication. For the girls, the award is named after the “First Lady of Golf” and the only non-golfer elected to the LPGA Hall of Fame, Dinah Shore. Shore, a great ambassador of women’s golf, is known for her connection to the LPGA Tour “major” event in the Desert.
