The Toyota Tour Cup Series Championship was held at the beautiful SilverRock Resort in La Quinta, CA December 18th-20th, 2011. Players took advantage of three great days of weather and put up some great scores on the challenging course which was part of the Bob Hope Classic tournament rotation for five years.
Avery French of Laguna Niguel, a 2013 grad, captured her first Toyota Tour Cup title shooting 70-75-70=215, -1. French’s victory can be attributed to steady play, her three rounds featured 33 pars and 12 birdies. Close behind was Alice Jeong of Gardena, a 2013 grad. Jeong led after a first round 67 but struggled on the greens during her second round and finished 67-78-71=216, E. Third place went to Elisabeth Bernabe of Anaheim Hills, also a 2013 grad, shooting 76-73-73=222, +6.
Jonathan Sanders of Chatsworth, a 2012 grad, shot the low round of the tournament during the second round with a 65, -7. His tournament total featured a first round score of 70 and a final round 69 to finish at 204, -12 with 18 birdies. Two shots back was Rico Hoey of Rancho Cucamonga, a 2013 grad, with an equally impressive 17 birdies. He shot 67-70-69=206, -10. In third place was Ryann Ree of Redondo Beach, a 2012 grad, shot 72-71-69=212, -4.
We would like to thank PGA General Manager Randy Duncan, PGA Head Professional James Saenz and Tournament Coordinator John McCarthy for all their assistance in making the tournament a success. Thank you to Travis Mathew for coming to provide the kids with entertainment following the second round, giving away hats and a free outfit for the overall boy and girl champions. Thank you to Ahead for providing the tee gifts, each participate received a polo shirt and hat.
 
 
The 2011 Junior Tour season ended with the Bridgestone Fall Series Championship at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon and Oak Valley Golf Club December 10-11, 2011. Two cool, calm days greeted the 125 player field with age divisions ranging from 9-11 to 16-18.
In the Boys 16-18 division, David Pelekoudas of Irvine captured first place with two rounds of 74, finishing at 148, +4. Tai Kuida of Redondo Beach was one shot back finishing 78-71 = 149, +5. In third place was Michael Pugh of Temecula 73-77=150, +6.
The Boys 14-15 division also saw a tight race with Issei Tanabe of Huntington Beach taking the title shooting 72-68=140, -4. In second place was Sahith Theegala of Chino Hills at 72-69=141, -3. Thomas Gosart of Los Angeles finished 76-71=147, +3 good enough for third place.
Clayton Feagler of Laguna Niguel blew out the field winning by nine strokes shooting 68-74=142, -2. In second place was Daniel Son of Glendale shooting 77-74=151, +7. Third place went to Han Seop Lee of Chino Hills shooting two rounds of 76.
The Girls 15-18 division saw Joo Youn Seo winning the title shooting 79-78=157, +13. In second place was Jamie Gracie of Long Beach with 82-78=160. And in third place was Michelle Cheung of Arcadia shooting 84-83=167.
Madeline Chou of Santa Ana won the Girls 12-14 division with the score of 75-73=148, +4. In second place was Bella Setio of San Marino shooting a pair of 76’s. Finishing third was Amy Matsuoka of Newport Beach with 75-78=153, +9.
The 9-11 division’s were moved to Oak Valley Golf Course just to accommodate all the players, there were 37! Julio Ibarra, Jr. won the Boys Division shooting 39-37=76, +4. In second place was Christopher Chomyn of Irvine shooting 40-37=77, +5. Third place was captured by Alexander Yang of Newport Coast with 39-40=79, +7. Karah Sanford of Escondido won her second consecutive Bridgestone title shooting 39-39=78, +6. In second place was Ada Wong of San Marino with 41-41=82, +10. Mary Shin of Irvine rounded out the top-three with 42-41=83, +11.

SCPGA Junior Tour member Jason Chen of Brea, CA once again participated in the American Junior Golf Association’s Leadership Links-Birdies for Charity program. Chen presented the SCPGA Foundation with a check for $2,215 for the 35 birdies he made during the summer of 2011. Chen received pledges from individuals and corporations for every birdie he made during a competitive round.
A long-time member of the SCPGA Junior Tour, Chen is a 2013 graduate. Last year Chen prestented the SCPGA with a check for $2,080 through the Birdies for Charity program.
The money Chen raised will benefit the SCPGA’s Growth of the Game programs which provide the youth of Southern California the opportunity to experience the game of golf. The SCPGA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which develops and administers the SCPGA Junior Tour.

The Toyota Tour Cup at The Country Club at Soboba Springs was played October 15-16, 2011. A field of 72 boys and 35 girls played 36-holes on the challenging Soboba Springs course which hosts a PGA TOUR Nationwide Tour Tournament stop. The course played long and fast with slick greens which made for difficult putting.
Capturing her first Toyota Tour Cup title was Euna Pak of Irvine, a 2014 grad, shooting 67-71=138, -6. Finishing three strokes back were Lilia Vu of Fountain Valley, a 2015 grad, at 70-71=141, -3 and Danielle Lee of La Mirada, a 2015 grad, at 73-68=141, -3.
In the boys division Jake Knapp of Costa Mesa, a 2012 grad, ran away with the title. Knapp shot a stellar 69-65=134, -10 to win by six strokes. In second place was Christopher Tuulik of San Diego, a 2012 grad, shooting 71-69=140, -4. Tied for third were Rico Hoey of Rancho Cucamonga, a 2013 grad, shooting 72-70=142, -2 and KK Limbhasut of Loma Linda, a 2014 grad, shooting 73-69=142, -2.
Thanks to the fantastic staff at The Country Club at Soboba Springs for all their assistance over the weekend. The next stop on the Toyota Tour Cup schedule will be Rancho San Marcos Golf Club just outside of Santa Barbara November 5-6, 2011.
 
Congratulations to Alex Angard and Cindy Oh for winning the Toyota Tour Cup at the River Course at The Alisal October 1st-2nd, 2011. The beautiful River Course played host to 80 players for a weekend of pleasant fall weather. Ideal conditions created great scoring opportunities on the boys and girls side.
Alex Angard of Encino, a 2013 grad, dominated the boys division shooting 67-68=135, -9. Angard had 13 birdies in his two rounds. In second place was Shearn Chua of Cherry Valley, a 2012 grad, shooting 72-70=142, -2. Tied for third place was Blake Barens of Villa Park , a 2013 grad, and Peter Griffith of Westlake Village, a 2015 grad.
Cindy Oh of Gardena, a 2015 grad, captured her third Toyota Tour Cup championship in 2011 by shooting 70-75=145, +1. Finishing tied for second place both shooting 74-74=148, +8 were Mackenzie Raim of Palm Desert, a 2014 grad, and Michelle Yom of Torrance, a 2014 grad.
Great job to all our participants! Thanks to Robert Scarpati, PGA for helping to make our players experience great. The Toyota Tour Cup’s next stop is the Country Club at Soboba Springs, home to the Nationwide Tour Soboba Classic, October 15th-16th, 2011.
