SCPGA JUNIOR TOUR ALUM – RICKIE FOWLER GETS HIS FIRST PGA TOUR WIN!

Rickie Fowler- 2012 Wells Fargo Championship Winner

Rickie Fowler, SCPGA Junior Tour alum, captured his first PGA Tour win this past weekend at the Wells Fargo Championship at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Coming into the final round, Fowler was in sixth place and three strokes off the lead at 11 under par. Rickie fired a final round 69 (3 under par) to get into a playoff with Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points. Fowler birdied the first hole of the playoff to capture the victory.

Fowler has a knack of making big putts, like he did at the age of 15 at the California State Junior Amateur at PGA of Southern California Golf Club- the Legends course on August 1-3 2005. Rickie fired 65+65+65=195 (21 under par). It was only a matter of time till Rickie won on the PGA Tour.

2012 TOYOTA TOUR CUP @ LA PURISIMA

Saturday, March 3rd and Sunday, March 4th, the SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup was in Lompoc for a beautiful weekend of competition at La Purisima Golf Course. As always at this location, the course proved to be the toughest opponent for players. Thank you to all participants, parents, and spectators for putting in the hard work and effort that made this event successful.

Congratulations to Brandon Tsujimoto, a 2013 graduate representing Pomona, for his first place finish with a two day combined score of 144 (even par). After starting the second round tied for 4th place, Brandon shot an impressive 71 (1 under par) which included 4 birdies to capture the win. Finishing in second place with a combined score of 145 was Court Lewis, a 2013 graduate representing Yorba Linda. Court began the second round in second place after an opening round of 71 (1 under par) with a notable front nine score of 34 (2 under par). Tied for third place with a combined score of 148 was Sea n Crocker, a 2014 graduate representing Westlake Village, and KK Limbhasut, a 2014 graduate representing Loma Linda. KK led the tournament after the first round with an impressive opening round of 70 (2 under par).

Congratulations to Robynn Ree, a 2015 graduate representing Redondo Beach, for her first place finish with a two day combined score of 155 (11 over par). Robynn’s top finish can be attributed to her consistent play (77-78), unaffected by difficult course conditions. Finishing in second place with a combined score of 158 (78-80) was Luciane Lee, a 2012 graduate representing Torrance. Luciane began the second round in 3rd place but battled hard to finish one spot higher on the leader-board. Jocelyn Chia, a 2014 graduate representing La Crescenta, finished in 3rd place with a combined total of 159 (80-79).

Everyone who finished in the top ten spots including ties, from both divisions, will receive a Toyota Tour Cup exemption not only for the rest of the 2012 season, but also for the entire 2013 season.

The SCPGA Junior Tour would like to extend an extra special thank you to all of our sponsors for their strong support of the Toyota Tour Cup. Perry Hallmeyer, Director of Sales and Marketing, and Brian Sanford, Assistant Superintendant, as well as the rest of the La Purisima Golf Course staff were very welcoming and provided a championship facility in pristine tournament condition. Also, thank you to Bridgestone Golf for providing each participant with a logoed tour umbrella. Finally, thank you to the tour’s premier sponsor Toyota, who has been a loyal partner of the SCPGA for over 12 years. The Toyota Tour Cup would not be possible without their help and support.
