2012 Ryder Cup Junior Academy

The SCPGA Junior Tour is pleased to announce that the PGA of America has once again asked us to select one boy and one girl to represent Southern California in the Ryder Cup Junior Academy. The Academy will be held in Port St. Lucie, FL at the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance. The dates of this year’s Academy are July 1-8, 2012.

Criteria:

  • Age 14-17
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Desire to excel at a high level of golf
  • Outstanding character

The PGA of America will provide the following for the participant:

  • airfare (coach)
  • housing for the participant
  • on-site meals for the participant
  • scheduled ground transportation for the participant from Palm Beach International Airport to official hotel to Palm Beach International Airport
  • ground transportation for the participant to off-site events
  • The Ryder Cup Junior Academy on-site experience for the participant.

SCPGA Foundation Scholarships

Below are the available scholarships through the SCPGA Foundation for 2011.
All applications must be accompanied by the student’s official transcript.
Deadline for scholarship applications is June 10, 2011. No faxed applications will be accepted!

SCPGA Foundation Scholarship – $1,000 each

Three (3) scholarships of $1,000 each payable to the chosen college or university.
• Awarded by the SCPGA Foundation.
• Recipient determined by SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee.
CRITERIA: (1) Recipient must graduate high school by September 1, 2010, and enroll in an accredited two
or four-year college or university, while requiring financial aid to do so; (2) Must have outstanding personal
character and leadership ability. (3) Participation in golf mandatory.

Johnny Revolta Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 (renewable for up to 4 yrs)

One (1) scholarship of $1,000 payable to the chosen college or university.
• Awarded by SCPGA Foundation and the Johnny Revolta Memorial Board of Trustees
• Scholarship is renewable for up to four (4) years; student must submit a written request each year along with
current transcript for consideration of continuance of scholarship.
CRITERIA: (1) Recipient must graduate from high school by September 1, 2010, and enroll in an
accredited two or four-year college or university while requiring financial aid to do so; (2) Must have
outstanding personal character and leadership ability. (3) Participation in golf not mandatory, but preferred.

Chuck Brenkus Scholarship – $1,000

One (1) scholarship of $1,000 payable to the chosen college or university.
• Awarded by the SCPGA Foundation.
• Recipient determined by the SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee, with final approval resting with the
Board of Trustees of the Chuck Brenkus Scholarship Fund.
CRITERIA: (1) Recipient must graduate high school by September 1, 2010, and enroll in an accredited
two or four-year college or university, while requiring financial aid to do so; (3) Must have outstanding
personal character and leadership ability. (3) Participation in golf not mandatory, but preferred.

Mike Lawson Memorial Scholarship – $1000

One (1) scholarship of $1,000 payable to the chosen college or university.
• Awarded by the SCPGA Foundation.
• Recipient determined by SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee and Mike Lawson Scholarship
Committee.
CRITERIA: (1) Recipient must graduate high school by September 1, 2010, and enroll in an accredited two
or four-year college or university, while requiring financial aid to do so; (2) Must have outstanding personal
character and leadership.

Bob McCurry Memorial Scholarship  - $1,300 each

Four (4) scholarships of $1,300 each payable to the chosen college or university.
• Awarded by the SCPGA Foundation.
• Recipient determined by SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee.
CRITERIA: (1) Recipient must graduate high school by September 1, 2010, and enroll in an accredited two
or four-year college or university, while requiring financial aid to do so; (2) Must have outstanding personal
character and leadership ability. (3) Participation in golf mandatory.

Gabe Hrab/Canyon Lake Scholarship

• Two (2) scholarships of $1,000 each payable to the chosen college or university.
• Awarded by the SCPGA Foundation on behalf of the Gabe Hrab/Canyon Lake Scholarship Committee.
• Recipient determined by the SCPGA Scholarship Selection Committee and the Gabe Hrab/Canyon Lake
Scholarship Committee.
CRITERIA: (1) Recipient must graduate high school by September 1, 2010, and enroll in an accredited two or
four-year college or university, while requiring financial aid to do so; (2) Must have outstanding personal
character and leadership abilities. (3) Preference given to Canyon Lake area residents. (4) Active participation in
golf not mandatory, but preferred.


WSCGA Foundation Scholarship Opportunities
